How High Can a Person Get? My Exchange With Abraham-Hicks in Seattle
Updated: 3 hours ago
"There isn't anything that we know that you don't know."
Abraham, speaking to me at the Seattle workshop
If you've just heard part of that exchange, you're in the right place. I'm Glen Pankhurst, the person at the microphone. The full clip is below, along with what was happening before I walked up and why "how high can a person get?" landed the way it did.

I recently went up to the microphone at an Abraham-Hicks workshop in Seattle with a question about my own inner guidance.
I already knew the answer. Receiving guidance and trusting it is second nature to me.
Not a hunch, and not a guess I was hoping someone would confirm. The answer had already come to me internally, I had understood it, and I trusted it — long before I walked up to that microphone. What I went up to check was one specific thing: whether there was a piece I hadn't accounted for.
That distinction matters, because it's the whole point of this article: trusting your intuition isn't something someone else gives you — it's something you build for yourself. What happened in that exchange didn't give me a connection to my inner guidance. It reflected back the emotional guidance system I had already spent years building.
If you've been asking yourself whether what you're feeling can be trusted — whether it's guidance or fear, clarity or wishful thinking — that question is the reason this article exists. What follows is how mine became reliable, and how yours can.
If you already know you want help with that, you can book an Intuitive Alignment Session or a free 30-minute discovery call now. Otherwise, read on.
Answers come to me
This is how it works for me now, and I want to be plain about it rather than modest.
I can be sitting with a question about my own life and the answer arrives on its own. I can be talking with someone about something they've been stuck in for years, and I'll see the pattern, the contradiction, or the piece they can't quite see themselves. Often it comes immediately. There is very little searching involved.
It comes, and I trust it.
That took years to develop. It's now central to how I live and to how I work with other people. So when I went to that workshop, I wasn't sitting there hoping Abraham would hand me clarity I couldn't reach on my own. I'd already been receiving the answers to the things I'd been thinking about.
What "inner guidance" actually means
If you're new to this, words like alignment, vibration, Inner Being and guidance can sound far more mysterious than they need to be. So let me make it practical.
I use Inner Being, Higher Self and Source to describe the larger part of you — the part that is always oriented toward your expansion and toward what you've been asking for. The moment you want something, that part of you becomes the vibration of it and holds that frequency steadily, whether or not it has shown up in your physical experience yet.
Every subject in your life is like a stick with two ends. There's a wanted end and an unwanted end. Money, relationships, work, your body, your future — every one of them.
You can think about your work and focus on the freedom in it, the possibility in it, the parts you enjoy, the way it's improving. Or you can think about that exact same work and focus on everything that frustrates you. Same subject. Completely different internal experience.
And how it feels while you're focusing is information.
Your emotions are guidance. Always.
This is the part I want no ambiguity about, because it's the foundation of everything else.
You already have a guidance system. You've always had it. If you can feel, you have access to it, and that is everyone.
The first thing to check whenever you receive an intuitive thought, impulse or nudge is how you feel as you receive it. Your emotions tell you how receptive you are and, therefore, how clearly you can interpret what is coming through.
When you feel good — open, clear, steady, relieved, appreciative or enthusiastic — you are in alignment with the perspective your Inner Being holds. Guidance received from that state is clearer. When a nudge arrives and feels natural, expansive or quietly knowing, trust it.
When you are worried, fearful or deeply resistant, your emotions are telling you that you are out of alignment. Any impulse you receive from that state is being filtered through the emotional place you are in. That doesn’t make your experience meaningless, but it does mean you may not yet be receiving the clearest interpretation of your guidance.
If you are in fear and a thought brings even a small amount of relief, that thought may just be the next rung available to you. It isn’t necessarily your Inner Being directing you to take the action contained in the thought. The relief is the guidance: it is showing you which direction to move emotionally. Follow the lighter feeling, reach for the next thought that feels better, and allow greater clarity to come before deciding whether action is needed.
This is why how you feel matters so much. Emotion isn’t random and it isn’t noise. It tells you both where your present focus sits in relation to what you want and how clearly you are able to receive the guidance available to you.
As you move into better-feeling emotional states, you become more receptive. The nudges become clearer, the knowing becomes steadier, and you learn what aligned guidance feels like within you.
How my own guidance became more specific
I've always had a strong intuitive connection, but as I made alignment more and more central to my life, it sharpened.
Answers started arriving in dreams. Intuitive thoughts became easier to catch. I could recognize patterns in myself, and in other people, that weren't obvious on the surface.
I also began experiencing physical indicators. One of the earliest was a high-frequency tone in my right ear, which I’d notice particularly when I’d asked for something new and hadn’t yet come into alignment with it. It was an indication that the desire was active, but my present focus hadn’t yet caught up with where my Inner Being already was. Later, I started noticing sensations on different sides of my body. For me, the right side came to mean focus toward what I wanted. The left came to mean some amount of focus still sitting on the unwanted end of a subject.
I want to be clear about this, because it's the most misunderstood part of my story:
These are my indicators. They are not a standard, and they are not a target. Your guidance may never look anything like mine, and it doesn't need to. The universal system is emotion. Everything beyond that is personal, and it develops in whatever form is natural to you — intuitive knowing, dreams, impulses, synchronicities, a physical signal, or just a very clear sense of relief or tension.
What matters about mine is only this: over years, they became consistent enough that I knew what I was looking at.
"My guides are telling me you're going to ask a question"
I went to the workshop with someone I studied under years ago, long before any of this was my work. She is a highly experienced spiritual teacher and intuitive, she works with her own guides, and she is now a client of mine — one of the people quoted on my testimonials page. I'd rather you knew all of that before I tell you what she said to me.
Before I had any question at all, she told me her guides were saying I was going to go up and ask Abraham something.
My honest reaction was: ask what? I didn't have a question. I said something close to, "What am I going to ask? I already know the answers."
That wasn't arrogance. It was accurate. I'd been receiving answers on the subjects I'd been working with for a long time. I hadn't come to be told what was true.
Both shoulders
Partway through the workshop, my indicators activated in both shoulders.
Glen sitting attentively at a personal-growth workshop as he notices an internal physical signal.
That didn’t confuse me either. I already understood what the two sides meant. Right side, focused toward what I wanted. Left side, some focus still sitting on the unwanted end. Both at once told me there was a subject where most of my focus was where I wanted it, and a small amount wasn’t.
I also understood why the sensation on the left was exaggerated. I had become so good at maintaining a high emotional set point that only a tiny amount of focus remained on the unwanted end. The signal had become strong enough to ensure I wouldn’t miss even the slightest movement away from alignment.
Even then, I didn’t feel I needed to ask Abraham anything. I already understood what my guidance was telling me.
Then the signal got much louder
What changed was the intensity.
During the workshop, the sensation kept building, and the left side in particular became extraordinarily strong. I knew the signal was exaggerated so I wouldn’t miss what it was pointing to, but it became so intense that I could no longer ignore the connection between it and what she had told me before the workshop.
She had said her guides were telling her I would go up and ask a question. I had arrived with no question because I already felt I had my answers. Now my left shoulder was demanding my attention.
My set point was enthusiasm and beyond. I felt good. My life was flowing. I knew there was almost no momentum behind whatever the signal was highlighting. I reached for the word “worry,” but I knew immediately that it wasn’t accurate. The answer was already within me, even though I hadn’t yet found the precise word for it.
“Okay. This must be the question”
As the sensation continued to intensify, I finally understood why I was going to speak.
It wasn’t that I suddenly became confused or stopped trusting my own guidance. It was more direct than that: Okay. This must be the question.
The signal became strong enough to move me into action. She had been told I would ask a question, and now I was being prompted so insistently that I went up and asked the question I already had the answer to.
What Abraham reflected back
The exchange itself was deeply validating.
Abraham recognized that my dominant set point was enthusiasm and beyond. They were surprised that I had described the feeling in my left shoulder as worry because there was virtually no momentum behind it. What they identified instead was boredom.
The instant I heard the word “boredom,” I knew. I had always known. The answer didn’t arrive as new information that I needed to evaluate or accept. It was the immediate recognition of something already present within me, now expressed in the precise word I hadn’t consciously reached for.
The signal was enormous because I had asked to notice even the smallest movement away from alignment. What it was pointing to was tiny.
And I could receive and recognize the answer immediately because I was already in a receptive state. My dominant set point was enthusiasm. I hadn’t gone up searching for an answer from a place of fear or confusion. I had been physically prompted to ask a question whose answer was already within me.
Then, in the middle of that exchange, Abraham told me, "You have created a whopper of a Vortex that is clear," and that I'm "not confused about stuff." Then came the line that stayed with me: "How high can a person get?"
That wasn’t a general philosophical aside. It was said about me, in that conversation, and I’ll come back to why it landed the way it did.
Validation is not the same as being given something
This is the part I care most about.
I have enormous appreciation for Abraham-Hicks. Their work has shaped how I understand alignment, emotional guidance, momentum, and the relationship between our inner state and our experience. Having that exchange meant a great deal to me.
But the most powerful part wasn’t that Abraham handed me an answer I had no access to myself. My guidance had already told me that there was a small amount of focus on the unwanted end, and my emotions had already told me that worry was not an accurate description of where I was. What Abraham gave me was the precise word I hadn’t been able to find: boredom. The instant I heard it, I recognized what I had always known.
That’s the opposite of a reason to start looking outside yourself. It shows what becomes possible when you are receptive enough to recognize truth the moment it is reflected back to you.
In the same exchange, Abraham said, "You can trust your shoulders or your emotions." My shoulders are my indicator. Emotion is the one you already have.
How high can a person get?
Here's why that question meant what it did.
I haven't recently arrived at enthusiasm. I've spent years deliberately working with my emotional state, subject by subject, taking things that used to feel heavy and moving them toward ease. I know bliss. I know euphoria. These aren't concepts to me — I've experienced them directly and repeatedly, and I've talked openly about them on the podcast and on my radio show.
One of the most intense of those experiences came years ago, after watching someone I knew release a tremendous amount of resistance almost instantly, right in front of me. Not long after, sitting at my desk at work, energy came through the top of my head like a fountain and didn't stop for hours, and on and off for around two weeks. The only honest description I've ever been able to give it is a spiritual orgasm. That's not a phrase I use for effect. It's the closest language I have for what actually happened.
Over time, enthusiasm and above became my baseline across the subjects in my life. It's my set point now.
Abraham named the important distinction in the same exchange: "It's not how high is joy, it's what is your capacity to receive it?" Joy doesn't have a ceiling. What changed isn't the height available — it's my capacity to receive it.
What once arrived as an overwhelming, once-in-a-lifetime surge became something I could hold, allow and sustain. And once something becomes your set point, it stops feeling extraordinary. It just feels like you.
That's also why my guidance can be so precise now. If nearly everything in your life is sitting high on the emotional scale, a small piece of boredom on one subject stands out enormously. Contrast doesn't disappear when you're aligned. It becomes obvious, because it's no longer your normal.
I feel like I'm living the life I used to dream about. Not because every external detail has arrived, but because of how it feels day to day — flow, ease, freedom, appreciation, abundance, positive expectation, real excitement about what's coming. My business is growing from there, and so is everything else.
What I noticed about the room
Something else struck me at that workshop.
I spoke with people who had been engaging with these teachings for years and getting real value from them. They knew the language. They'd been to workshops. And some of them still struggled with the most fundamental piece of all: recognizing their own guidance in real life and trusting it when it came.
I also met people at their first workshop who were only beginning to understand that they had a guidance system at all.
Recognizing my own guidance and trusting it stopped being unusual for me a long time ago, which is why the gap was so easy to see.
That gap stayed with me. Because you can understand the Law of Attraction intellectually. You can know the emotional scale, the Vortex, vibration, alignment, positive focus. And still, standing in the middle of your own life, you can wonder:
Is this my intuition, or is this fear? Am I forcing this? What does this feeling actually mean? Can I trust what I'm receiving?
Understanding a teaching and being fluent in your own guidance are not the same skill. That second one is where I work.

How I work with people
When someone talks with me about something that feels stuck, I'm listening to far more than the surface story.
I notice the patterns. The contradictions. The word choices that give away what's actually expected. The beliefs being repeated without being questioned. What they're focused on, what they're not yet seeing, and where their own guidance has probably already been pointing them.
The underlying pattern becomes clear to me very quickly. That's a real part of what I bring, and I use it in a grounded, practical way — to help people see more clearly, recognize what's actually active, reconnect with their Higher Self, release what's been holding them back, and move into more alignment and self-trust.
The person I went to that workshop with — the teacher I studied under — has been doing this professionally for more than twenty-five years. She wasn't new to spirituality. She wasn't new to intuition. And our work together still helped her recognize patterns she hadn't fully seen, shift areas that had felt stuck, put her own wellbeing first, and move into more joy, ease, optimism and excitement about her life.
Eventually she said something to me I won't forget: "Glen, you changed my life."
Her full words are on my testimonials page.
That matters to me for one specific reason. Knowing spiritual principles and being able to see what's active in yourself in real time are not automatically the same thing. Sometimes you're just too close to your own pattern to see the thread running through it. Once you can see it, you can change it.
In practice that's a conversation. You bring what feels stuck — the decision you keep circling, the pattern that keeps repeating, the nudge you can't tell whether to trust. I listen for what's underneath it, tell you what I see, and we work with what's actually active rather than the surface story. The point is that you leave holding the thread you couldn't find on your own, and clearer about what your own guidance had already been pointing at.
If you'd like that for yourself, you can book an Intuitive Alignment Session on my booking page. If you'd rather talk first, there's a free 30-minute discovery call.
The goal is your guidance, not mine
I don't want anyone dependent on my intuition for their answers. That's not what intuitive coaching is for — it's meant to strengthen your own higher self connection and support your spiritual alignment, not replace it.
Yes, I can illuminate something you can't yet see, and identify the pattern underneath the pattern. But the thing I care most about is what you're left with afterwards: a stronger relationship with your own guidance.
Because when you start trusting yourself, everything changes. You stop needing constant external confirmation. You catch misalignment earlier. You make cleaner decisions. You recover from contrast faster. You start knowing the difference between something that's yours to act on and something where the aligned move is to soften, wait and realign first.
Where to start
You don’t need to wait for your guidance to become as specific as mine. You begin by creating the space to hear what has already been there.
On my Start Here page, I share six simple practices designed to help you slow down, become more aware of what is active within you, and gently move your focus toward what feels better.
Begin with morning alignment: 17 minutes before your phone, conversation or the outside world gets your attention. As that becomes steady, add the light-subject practice, where you choose something that feels movable and deliberately give more attention to its wanted side.
From there, you can begin appreciating the fragments of what you’ve been asking for, recording your dreams, and using the evening reset and weekly self-reset to release what has accumulated and return to yourself.
These practices aren’t about doing everything perfectly or forcing yourself to feel good. They help you become more receptive, recognize your emotional guidance sooner, and learn how clarity feels within you.
And if you'd rather not work it out alone — or you've been practising and something still won't move — that's what a session is for. An Intuitive Alignment Session is 60 minutes, one to one, focused on whatever you bring. If you'd like to talk first, book a free 30-minute discovery call.
I walk this
I never wanted to become someone who could talk beautifully about alignment while living in resistance.
I wanted to know whether I could actually do it. Whether I could change the patterns that had shaped my life. Whether I could stop letting circumstances decide how I felt. Whether feeling good could eventually become normal rather than occasional.
It could. It did.
That's why the Abraham-Hicks exchange meant so much to me. It wasn't the beginning of my trust in my guidance. It was a reflection of how far that trust had already come. I walked up with a question my Inner Being had already answered, and I walked away knowing I hadn't missed the piece I thought I might have missed.
I was clear.
Today I use that same clarity in my work with other people — helping them see the patterns they can't yet see, reconnect with their Higher Self, release what's been holding them back, and move toward more ease, freedom and self-trust.
And the most valuable thing I can help you discover is this: you have guidance too. It isn't supposed to look like mine. It's supposed to become so familiar to you that when it speaks, you know how to listen.
When you do, you may be surprised how much of your life starts to change.
If you'd like help seeing what's active in your own life, you can book a free 30-minute discovery call, or a full Intuitive Alignment Session, on my booking page.
